Bidspirit auction | MASK

MASK - Mask sculpted in wood, with vertical proportions and a high forehead, with purified volumes. The face, in smooth planes, features half-closed eyes, an elongated nose, and a triangular opening below; an arch above the orbits is punctuated by small perforations that continue along the central axis. Whitish surface, with irregular patina and areas of wear exposing ochre and brown nuances. Due to its formal synthesis and facial treatment, it may be close to the sculptural tradition of Central Africa, a hypothesis not confirmable by photographs alone.
