Bidspirit auction | PIECE WITH BLADES

PIECE WITH BLADES - Piece sculpted in various materials, with a rectangular body and a front equipped with a set of parallel blades secured by crossbars. At the top, two Janiform busts with elongated necks display half-closed eyes, tense lips, scarifications on the forehead, and high, reticulated mesh hairstyles. Dark and encrusted patina, with marks of use, small losses, and cracks at the edges. The physiognomy of the heads and the treatment of the hairstyles may refer to sculptural traditions of Central Africa, such as Luba, a hypothesis not confirmable by photographs alone.
