STANDING FIGURE - Wooden sculpture representing a standing human figure on an oval base, frontal and with compact volumes. Serene face with half-closed eyes, raised scarifications on the forehead and cheeks, necklace around the neck, and a high striated coiffure; torso with pendulous breasts, hands joined at the lower abdomen, and wide feet with defined toes. Dark patinated surface, polished by use, with small abrasions and chips on the base. Due to the coiffure, facial serenity, and scarifications, the piece may approximate the sculptural tradition of Ivory Coast, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
