Bidspirit auction | FIGURE WITH CONTAINER

FIGURE WITH CONTAINER - Wooden sculpture representing a squatting anthropomorphic figure, with the top of the head open forming a small circular container, the rim engraved with a serrated frieze. Elongated face with half-closed eyelids and protruding mouth, coiffure in voluminous lateral rolls; choker and defined fingers. Polished surface, dark brown patina with areas of wear. The posture, facial treatment, and coiffure may approximate the Central African sculptural tradition, including affinities with Chokwe or Luba ensembles, though the attribution is not confirmable by photographs alone.
