MOUNTED FIGURE - Piece in metal alloy depicting a rider mounted on a high-necked quadruped, with cylindrical legs and truncated conical feet. Noteworthy are the elongated volumes, spiral applications, and undulating friezes, the animal's head topped by a conical element and a loop tail. The rider, schematically drawn, has a linear face and a pointed headdress, with arms extended resting on the animal's neck. Due to the treatment of shapes and spiral motifs, it may resemble the sculptural tradition of the Western Sahel; this hypothesis cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
