Bidspirit auction | KNEELING FIGURE

KNEELING FIGURE - Anthropomorphic terracotta figure, kneeling, with arms bent and hands resting on the belly; face with marked eyelids and a restrained expression, with lateral scarifications. The body displays incised geometric motifs on the chest and abdomen, a high plume-like hairstyle, and a frontal block with a reticulated pattern, showing a soft brown patina. The combination of posture, hairstyle, and scarifications may resemble the sculptural tradition of certain areas of Central Africa; this hypothesis cannot be confirmed solely by photographs. Small signs of wear at the extremities.
