Bidspirit auction | HEAD

HEAD - Head sculpted in terracotta, with an ovoid volume and a marked sagittal crest. The face features half-closed eyes with thick eyelids, a slightly open mouth with finely modeled teeth, and a series of incisions and dots across the forehead and facial contour. Dark, matte patina surface, with wear on the reliefs; presented on a rolled red fabric ring. Due to the treatment of the face and the incised marks, it may approach the sculptural tradition of West Africa, a purely stylistic hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
