MASK - Anthropomorphic mask in mixed media, with an elongated face, half-closed eyes, and a prominent nose, painted with zigzag geometric patterns. The high fabric headdress, densely applied with cowrie shells and finished with beads, frames lateral appendages and creates a strong volumetric presence. Perforations on the edge and small inlays on the chin rhythm the surface, with a marked patina and localized wear on the textile. Due to the painted motifs and the headdress covered with cowrie shells, the piece may approximate the Kuba sculptural tradition, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone; presented on an exhibition stand.
