Bidspirit auction | MASK

MASK - Wooden mask, with an elongated profile and marked frontality, with a heart-shaped face outline and refined volumes. Eyes pierced as dots, very narrow nose extended to the chin, with discreet incised geometric motifs; surface with worn patina and traces of whitish pigment. The formal sobriety and emphasis on symmetry show affinities that may refer to the Kwele sculptural tradition; this stylistic hypothesis cannot, however, be confirmed by photographs alone.
