Bidspirit auction | CROCODILE WITH FIGURE

CROCODILE WITH FIGURE - Zoomorphic figure in metal alloy representing an open-mouthed crocodile, with a small schematic human figure mounted near the snout. Elongated body with incised scales, short legs, and a tapered tail; the character stands with slender limbs and leans on rods suggesting reins. Surface with heterogeneous patina in greenish-grey tones and slight wear on the edges. The stylization of the volumes and the motif may refer to the sculptural tradition of West Africa, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
