Bidspirit auction | FIGURE WITH VESSEL

FIGURE WITH VESSEL - Anthropomorphic figure in metal alloy, with elongated legs and well-defined feet, holding a circular vessel in front; on the back, a high crowning rises with geometric decoration and small lateral figurative elements, topped by an incised finial. Surface with dark patina and handling sheen, which accentuate the fine modeling of the hands and the presence of an anklet. The composition articulates the frontal bowl with the verticality of the backrest, creating a rhythmic and balanced profile. The elongation of the forms, the supported bowl, and the incised reliefs may refer to West African sculptural traditions, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
