Bidspirit auction | PLATE WITH PENDANTS

PLATE WITH PENDANTS - Composition in various materials: anthropomorphic plaque with a lively expression, prominent eyes and a protruding tooth, topped by a perforated mesh headdress. Numerous strands of beads and pendants hang from the collar, alternating dark cylinders, textured spheres and light ovals, which give rhythm and volume. Surface with a heterogeneous patina, brown and black nuances and signs of use, presented on a display base. The modeling of the face, the headdress and the emphasis on the strands of beads may, by resemblance, approximate West African sculptural traditions; this hypothesis cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
