HEAD - Sculptural head in terracotta, with rounded volumes and a serene expression, with the face entirely furrowed by fine vertical incisions. Almond-shaped, half-closed eyes, prominent nose and lips, discreet ears and small perforations at the top of the skullcap; the neck displays sculpted rings. Ocher-toned surface, matte patina with slight incrustations and localized wear. The presence of facial striations, elongated eyes, and a ringed neck may approximate the sculptural tradition of Ife, a purely stylistic hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
