GROUP WITH PALANQUIN - Sculptural group in metal alloy, depicting a procession scene: four bearers with elongated volumes support a palanquin where a hieratic figure sits, with a conical headdress and pipe; at the base, a feline with a ringed tail. Oval faces with half-closed eyes, hair in small knots, tubular arms, and fine incisions suggest adornments and fabrics. Surface with vigorous modeling, with a dotted texture on the animal and a homogeneous dark patina. The composition and these motifs may refer to the lost-wax sculptural tradition of West Africa, possibly close to Akan repertoires; such attribution cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
