Bidspirit auction | ANTHROPOMORPHIC FIGURE

ANTHROPOMORPHIC FIGURE - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, with refined volumes: a broad, almost discoid head with a hairline, incised facial features, and a ringed neck; short arms positioned horizontally over a cylindrical torso, ending in a double rounded base. Small geometric scarifications and a marked navel enliven the surface, with a brown patina and handling luster. The proportions and formal treatment may refer to the Akan/Ashanti sculptural tradition (Akua’ba typology), a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed solely by photographs.
