Bidspirit auction | SEATED FIGURE

SEATED FIGURE - Anthropomorphic figure in metal alloy, seated with one leg bent and the other extended, erect torso, and truncated arms. Full-volumed face with protruding eyes, defined mouth, and smooth headdress; surface with dark patina, areas polished to lighter metal, vertical incisions on the abdomen, and a rhomboid pattern on the attire. The posture and the treatment of the face and clothing present characteristics that may refer to the sculptural tradition of West Africa, a hypothesis not confirmable by photographs alone.
