SCULPTURE WITH RELIEFS - Terracotta sculpture with a bell-shaped body, worked in high-relief with an equestrian scene and friezes of small knobs, suggesting cords and incised fillets. The flat upper part is crowned by a stylized head with ringed eyes and a perforated mouth, atop a short, grooved neck. Dark brown surface, with a smoothly polished patina and ocher highlights that accentuate the volumes and texture. The themes and formal treatment may refer to the sculptural tradition of West Africa, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
