Bidspirit auction | MASK WITH COATING

MASK WITH COATING - Composition in diverse materials, with a vertical presence, centered on a geometric mask with a pronounced sagittal crest, surface rhythmicized by striations and patina in worn shades of red and black. The face, with slit eyes and angular volumes, emerges from a fibrous collar over a wide trapezoidal drapery with braided finishes and small oval applications, presented on a base. The combination of the high crest and the striations may approximate the sculptural tradition of Kifwebe masks; this hypothesis is merely stylistic and cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
