Bidspirit auction | ANTHROPOMORPHIC FIGURE

ANTHROPOMORPHIC FIGURE - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, vertically oriented with marked frontality, featuring a crested hairstyle, prominent eyes, and an incisively delineated mouth. The arms extend forward to hold two symmetrical elements near the chest, creating a central void; the piece stands on a cylindrical pedestal. Surface with dark patina, reddish nuances, and wear on the protrusions. Due to its formal characteristics—crest, eye modeling, and rigid posture—it may approximate the sculptural tradition of West Africa, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
