Bidspirit auction | BLADE WITH FIGURATIVE HANDLE

BLADE WITH FIGURATIVE HANDLE - Metal alloy blade piece, with a sculptural handle formed by an anthropomorphic figure with an elongated body, a head with a headdress, and a terminal ring. The blade, wide and with a broken profile, displays through-cutouts — a vertical slit and two crosses — in addition to small perforations, on a hammered surface with dark patina. The set of elements may approach the Central African sculptural tradition of prestige blades; an attribution not provable solely by photographs.
