Bidspirit auction | FIGURATIVE MASK

FIGURATIVE MASK - Anthropomorphic mask in various materials, with powerful volume and an elongated face, with eyebrows, nose, and mustache modeled in ochre high-relief on a dark brown background. Half-closed eyes, open mouth with marked teeth and textured beard; sides with small white shells and a small bird figure on top. Surface with irregular patina and chromatic contrasts that accentuate expressiveness. The combination of a zoomorphic crest, facial protrusions, and the use of shells presents characteristics that may refer to productions from West or Central Africa.
