Bidspirit auction | TUBULAR SCULPTURE

TUBULAR SCULPTURE - Anthropomorphic terracotta figure, with a tubular body resting on a discreetly widened base. Schematized face with half-closed eyes, prominent nose, and slit mouth, under a ridged conical headdress; sides with ear perforations. Ochre-toned surface, matte texture, and homogeneous patina, animated by extensive rhythmic incisions that wrap around the torso. The piece has characteristics that may refer to productions from the Niger area (Bura), due to the ridged helmet, verticality of the volume, and emphasis on scarified patterns.
