Bidspirit auction | SEATED FIGURE

SEATED FIGURE - Wooden sculpture representing a seated anthropomorphic figure, with compact volumes and a frontal pose, with elongated legs and bent arms, one of them holding an elongated element. The head, with triangular geometry, a central crest, and incised almond-shaped eyes, structures the contained expression of the face. Surface with darkened patina and handling smoothings, retaining discreet tool marks. It exhibits characteristics that may refer to West African traditions, due to the hieratic seated posture and the geometric treatment of the head and facial features.
