Bidspirit auction | KNEELING FIGURE

KNEELING FIGURE - Kneeling female figure in wood, on a circular base, with hands on her belly and prominent breasts. Elongated face with half-closed eyelids and a radiating hairstyle, details which, together with scarification marks on the abdomen, structure a contained and hieratic presence. Surface with an irregular dark brown patina, showing wear on the protrusions. The posture, scarifications, and hairstyle may refer to Central African traditions, possibly related to Luba/Chokwe contexts.
