Bidspirit auction | ELONGATED FIGURE

ELONGATED FIGURE - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, with elongated volumes and strong frontality, with a small protrusion on the top of the head, geometric facial features, and a grooved rectangular beard. The arms, separated from the torso by lateral cut-outs, descend to the thighs; it rests on a thick circular base with a visible central slot. Surface marked by tool marks and dark patina, giving it a rough and intense texture. Shows characteristics that may refer to West African traditions, due to the elongated proportions, emphasized beard, and adze carving.
