Bidspirit auction | MATERNITY

MATERNITY - Standing female figure, frontal, with a child supported on her hip, sculpted with robust volumes and a concentrated expression; almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and a conical headdress. Dark and lustrous patina, with signs of use and wear on the base. Circular base, incisions on the wrists and forehead, and a necklace; wood with beads and shells. Features suggest a possible connection to West African traditions, due to the maternity theme, the headdress, and the scarifications.
