Bidspirit auction | ELONGATED FIGURE

ELONGATED FIGURE - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, strongly vertical, resting on a circular base. The disproportionate and almost discoidal head features slit eyes, incised eyebrows, and a minimal mouth, creating a restrained expression. The tubular body is traversed by very elongated arms that wrap around the torso, in a gesture suggesting protection of a small element near the chest. Dark, smoothed patina, with signs of use and old cracks that emphasize the modeling. The ensemble's characteristics may point to West African sculptural traditions.
