Bidspirit auction | FEMALE FIGURE

FEMALE FIGURE - Figure of female appearance, in wood, standing on an integral base, with an elongated body and restrained proportions. Tall head with incised hairstyle, almond-shaped eyes, and serene expression; the torso exhibits zigzag carvings and facial marks, with traces of light pigment. Hands resting on the lower abdomen, well-defined feet; dark patina with smoothed areas and a crack at the base. It exhibits characteristics that may refer to West African productions, possibly related to the Baule universe, due to its morphology, scarifications, and treatment of the hairstyle.
