Bidspirit auction | ELONGATED FIGURE

ELONGATED FIGURE - Anthropomorphic figure carved in wood, with markedly elongated proportions, standing upright on a circular base. Lanceolate head with schematic features and a ringed neck; narrow torso with a central zigzag frieze and arms hanging down to the legs, punctuated by geometric incisions. Brown to blackened patina, with lighter highlights on the edges and areas of wear. It exhibits characteristics that may refer to West African traditions, possibly related to the Dogon/Bamana universe, due to its stylized profile and rhythmic emphasis of the motifs.
