Bidspirit auction | SEATED FIGURE

SEATED FIGURE - Seated anthropomorphic figure in wood, with elongated volumes and a restrained expression; head with a longitudinal crest, half-closed eyes, and incisions suggesting scarification. The body, with a protruding belly, has arms lowered with hands on the thighs, supported by a small integrated seat. Dark and lustrous patina, with areas of wear that highlight the modeling and carved details. The crest, hieratic posture, and facial marks may suggest productions from Central Africa, possibly related to Luba/Hemba traditions.
