Bidspirit auction | KNEELING FIGURE

KNEELING FIGURE - Carved wooden figure, kneeling with one leg forward and the right hand resting on the face, in an introspective gesture. Elongated and contained volumes, with a ringed neck, sculpted bracelets, low headdress, half-closed eyes and a marked mouth that accentuates the expression. Dark surface with polished patina and visible areas of wear. The pose and the rings on the neck may refer to Central African traditions of meditative figures.
