Bidspirit auction | MATERNITY

MATERNITY - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, representing a standing woman, with compact volumes, crest-shaped hair, and a strong frontal gaze. The flexed arms frame the belly with carved geometric motifs; a small infant figure is discernible on the back. Brown patina, softly polished on prominent areas, highlighting edges and modeling. The composition, scarifications, and presence of the child may refer to West African traditions, possibly related to the Yoruba universe.
