Bidspirit auction | STATUETTE

STATUETTE - Anthropomorphic wooden figure, standing, with bent legs, wide feet, and hands joined to the chest. Head with ample volumes, half-closed eyes, and lobed hairstyle; ringed neck. Smoothly polished surfaces, with a dark patina and subtle highlights of wear on the edges. Presents characteristics that may refer to Central African traditions, possibly related to Luba/Hemba, due to the gesture of the hands to the chest, the striated neck, and the treatment of the eyes and hair.
