Bidspirit auction | FEMALE FIGURE

FEMALE FIGURE - Wooden sculpture with beads and shells, representing a standing female figure on a tall fluted plinth, with prominent breasts and hands over the belly. The face exhibits half-closed eyes, a defined mouth, and incised scarifications on the cheeks, with a striated hairstyle; around the neck, a bead necklace with a shell. Surface with brown patina, darker nuances, and handling marks that highlight the volumes. Presents characteristics that may refer to Central African productions, possibly related to the Kongo/Yombe universe, due to the treatment of scarifications, the hairstyle, and the proportions.
