Bidspirit auction | HEAD

HEAD - Sculptural head in metal alloy, with a contained expression and naturalistic modeling, featuring a fine mesh of vertical striations across the entire face. Almond-shaped eyes and closed mouth, ringed neck, and a high conical hairstyle with concentric elements; greenish patina and irregular incrustations. Openings at the base suggest a fastening system. Due to the facial striations, proportions, and treatment of the hairstyle, it presents characteristics that may refer to productions from the Benin/Ifé region, in a Yoruba context.
