CHRIS LEHWALDER Scrimshaw Polychrome Scene - Scrimshaw scene depicting the late 19th century sailing ship ”Sophocles” owned by The Aberdeen White Star Line. Polychrome depiction of the ship at sea with the name of the vessel in a ribbon below. Signed C. Lehwalder in the lower right. Tooth is polished on the scrimshaw side and semi rough on the verso, mounted on a custom exotic wood stand. Approx. 3” x 8-1/8”. Provenance: Obtained in the 1980s from Lahaina Scrimshaw Factory, Lahaina, Hawaii. This item can be shipped in-house. Condition: Excellent condition with naturally occuring flaws.
