U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Socket Bayonet - Blade measures approx. 18”, overall length 21”. Believed to be an Indian Wars-era socket bayonet designed for the Springfield Trapdoor rifle. Flattened cruciform blade marked ”U.S.” over inspector initial ”J” on the ricasso. Includes what appeao be the original iron scabbard with leather belt hanger and brass suspension clip, the clip fitted with a ”60” rosette.
