German M1889 Cavalry Officer's Saber - Model 1889, likely produced by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie), this WW1-era German Model 1889 Kavallerie Offiziersabel features a 32-1/4” etched fullered blade, 37-3/4” overall, and a wide 1-1/16” blade. Knight logo on ricasso. Crossed sabersotif on the guard, wire-wrapped shark or ray skin grip, and lion-head pommel suggest cavalry issue. The heavy construction (30 oz.) and double-ring steel scabbard indicate field use rather than parade wear. A representative saber of the late Imperial German or early Reichswehr period.
