18th C. Portrait Miniature of Comtesse de Potocki - Exceptional late 18th-century portrait miniature of a noblewoman, identified on verso as ”Comtesse de Potocki,” painted in watercolor on ivory. The sitter is portrayed in period attire with a coral-colored gown and elaborately styled powdered hair tied with a red ribbon. The miniature is set under convex glass in a simple gilt metal pendant frame. The reverse bears an inscription in period script: ”Comtesse de Potocki / Cosway fecit 1791”- suggesting attribution to Richard Cosway (1742-1821).
