1790s French 18k Gold Snuff Box, JG Remond - Elegant circa 1790-1810 French 18k gold snuff box with finely engine-turned panels framed by a crisp chased foliate border. The interior carries the maker's lozenge for J.G. Remond & Cie (Geneva), along with a combination of French hallmarks including the Revolutionary-period rooster with rounded 3 and the Vieillard head, showing the piece remained in circulation and was officially re-assayed under a later system, as indicated by the recall hallmarks. (Recall hallmarks were used to reaffirm that the piece was authentic.) A well-made and substantial example with strong visual appeal. Weighs 75.5 grams and measures 3-1/8” x 2” x 5/8”.
