A Pair of Renaissance Revival Style Carved Quartersawn Oak Relief Panels - This lot consists of a pair of carved relief panels executed in quartersawn oak, exhibiting characteristics of the late 19th or early 20th century Renaissance Revival style. Each rectangular panel features a central raised field with a high-relief carving of a winged allegorical figure set against a background of stylized flora. One panel depicts a figure in a dynamic pose, seemingly in flight or mid-stride, holding a sword and a branch. The second panel portrays a winged figure in a seated or kneeling position among blossoms. The reverse of each panel displays the distinctive medullary rays (ray fleck) associated with quartersawn oak. The panels are flat-backed and were likely originally used as decorative elements within a larger piece of cabinetry, such as a sideboard, or as architectural wall paneling. No maker's marks or identifying stamps are visible on the front or back of the panels.
