21-Piece Japanese Kutani Porcelain Coffee or Chocolate Service - This twenty-one piece Japanese porcelain service is identified by mark as Kutani ware. The set is comprised of one tall lidded pot, one two-handled lidded sugar bowl, one lidded creamer, eight cups, and eight saucers. The pieces are decorated with hand-painted polychrome scenes of mandarin ducks and cranes in a traditional landscape with reeds and flowering cherry or plum trees. Gilded accents are applied to the handles, spouts, and rims. A two-character mark in red-orange pigment is hand-painted on the underside of the pieces, identifying the set as Kutani.
