Queen Anne Style Burl Walnut Slant Front Bureau - This burl walnut slant front bureau is designed in the Queen Anne style. The exterior is finished with highly figured burl walnut veneers, characterized by book matched patterns, crossbanded borders, and light wood stringing. The lower section features three graduated long drawers, each fitted with decorative brass batwing backplates, bail handles, and keyhole escutcheons. The desk is supported by bracket feet. The upper section has a fall front writing surface that opens on brass hinges to reveal a fitted interior gallery. The interior consists of a central cupboard door with a small ring pull, flanked by four scalloped pigeonhole compartments and four small stationery drawers with dark circular turned pulls. The secondary wood appears to be a lighter hardwood. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are present on the piece.
