American Empire Flame Mahogany Bow-Front Chest of Drawers - This mid-19th century American Empire chest of drawers features a bow-front design faced with highly figured flame mahogany veneers. The chest follows a two-over-three drawer configuration, consisting of two short drawers at the top positioned over three graduated, full-width drawers. The crotch mahogany veneers are arranged in a book-matched pattern across the drawer fronts. The case is flanked by substantial scrolled pilasters that terminate in large scroll feet. The chest is fitted with twelve pressed glass knobs featuring a molded scalloped floral pattern. Each drawer level includes circular metal escutcheons over the keyholes. The drawer construction utilizes dovetail joinery. There are no legible maker marks, stamps, or labels present on the piece.
