It features a bulbous body that tapers to a short, waisted neck, terminating in a distinctive four-lobed pinched rim. The exterior is finished in a vibrant red flambe glaze, accented with dark charcoal and black mottled veined inclusions primarily around the base, which is characteristic of the reduction-firing process used in this line. The underside of the base is glazed in red and bears a printed black mark consisting of the Royal Doulton lion and crown emblem with the word FLAMBE and the shape number 1695.
