Rare!!! Austrian Lloyd Agency in Jerusalem, Palestine 1854, letter from Jerusalem to Memel struck on dispatch in Jerusalem with oval framed sunburst ”AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO / GERUSALE / ME” in Green ink (only 3 Green pmks recorded), a very fine strike for this rare handstamp Recipient: Rabbi Moshe Yaakov Ashkenazi, son of Rabbi Mordechai Zeev Ashkenazi of Campana, and son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Friedenzahn of Zwickau. At the end of his days, he lived in the city of Ma'al in Freising, and he was an outstanding Torah scholar and a distinguished scholar who did good deeds and kindnesses to all of Israel, being very important in the eyes of the government ministers. The hundreds of letters sent from various states to the poor of the AHK were sent to him, and he was sent to their certificate by his beloved minister, Rabbi Moshe of Antifiore, as is well known.
