400-year-old Torah scroll. Eastern - Sephardi writing, Egypt, early 17th century. Torah scroll with Eastern - Sephardi writing. The scroll is written on yellowish  gevil (tanned, whole hide) processed   via the application of tanning agents ( merichah) rather than via immersion in lime (common for scrolls from North Africa). 400-year-old Torah scroll - comes with confirmation by an expert in Hebrew paleography, Biblical studies and Hebrew manuscripts that the scroll is complete, that none of the original  yerios were switched for others, and that it is in good condition considering its age. In addition to the incredible sanctity of a Torah scroll, this scroll holds vast historical value and interest in terms of research.   The parashah  stops follow the shitah  of the Rambam only (in accordance with the early custom). There are some deviations from Sephardi tradition, such as the lack of the word Yehudah or Yissaschar at the top of the amud  of Parashas Vayechi. 42 lines , but does not follow any of the well-known Tikkunei Sofrim .  Shiras Haazinu is written in 70 lines. Early 17th-century Egypt. All yerios are original. An early Torah scroll from Egypt that is so well preserved is a rarity. Height: approximately 48 cm. There are tears and stains. We saw tapings on the back of the parchment. We did not check every amud  individually, nor did we check the kashrus of the scroll. Sans atzei chaim and mantle.  ספר תורה בן כ - 400 שנה. כתיבה ספרדית-מזרחית, מצרים, ראשית המאה ה -17 ס”ת בכתיבה ספרדית-מזרחית, הספר כתוב על גוויל בעל גוון צהבהב מעובד באמצעות מריחה ולא ע”י השרייה בחומר(אופי שנמצא בצפון אפריקה). ספר תורה בן כ - 400 שנה - מצורף אישור מומחה לפליאוגרפיה עברית, חקר המקרא וכתב יד עבריים, הכותב כי הספר שלם ולא הוחלפו בו יריעות ומצבו טוב בהתחשב לגילו. מלבד קדושתו העצומה של ספר תורה, יש בו ערך היסטורי רב ומעניין מבחינה מחקרית. הפסקי פרשיות כשיטת הרמב”ם בלבד (כפי המנהג המוקדם). יש שינויים מהמסורה הספרדית כגון העדר תיבת יהודה או יששכר בראש עמוד בפרשת ויחי. 42 שורות, אך לא לפי אחד תיקוני הסופרים הידועים, שירת האזינו כתובה ה - 70 שורות. מצרים, ראשית המאה השבע עשרה. יריעות הספר כולם מקוריות. ספר תורה מוקדם ממצרים, במצב השתמרות טוב כל כך, הוא דבר לא מצוי. גובה: 48 ס”מ לערך. ישנם קרעים וכתמים. הדבקות ראינו בגב הקלף. לא נבדק עמוד עמוד ולא נבדקה כשרותו. ללא עצי חיים ומעיל לס”ת.
