Silver Chanukah menorah, Alt Wien (Old Vienna) 1860, hallmarked Mayer. Rare design. Silver Chanukah menorah, Alt Wien (Old Vienna) 1860, hallmarked Mayer. Weight: 470 grams. Unique and rare design. Sofa-shaped Chanukah menorah with a backrest and two side armrests. The impressive backplate is richly decorated with intricate openwork craftsmanship (“pierced work”), featuring floral and foliate motifs intertwining around the frame. At the center of the backplate is a smooth oval medallion surrounded by a laurel wreath. The upper section of the backplate features a crown, behind which rises a dedicated holder for the shamash cup. Resting upon the bench-shaped base is a row of oil cups joined together at their bases, with feet and a handle connected to the base of the reservoirs. Each cup (except for the shamash) is fitted with a removable lid pierced at the center for the wick. Above the crown is a hanging ring for wall mounting or carrying the menorah. The menorah stands on four feet, one of which is ornamented. Hallmarks appear on the underside of the bench. We were unable to locate a comparable example on the Bezalel Narkiss website. Minor asymmetry and signs of age. Maximum width: approx. 21.5 cm. Maximum height (including the shamash): approx. 22.5 cm. מנורת חנוכה מכסף, אלט ווין 1860, חתום, mayer(מאיר). דוגמא נדירה חנוכייה מכסף, אלט ווין 1860, חתום, mayer(מאיר). משקל: 470 גרם. דוגמא ייחודית ונדירה. חנוכיה בצורת ספה עם משענת ושני משענים בצדדים, גב מרשים ומעוטר, מלאכת מחשבת של 'מעשה שבכה' עם עיטורי פרחים ועלים המשתרגים מסביב, במרכז הגב בולטת מדליה אובלית חלקה, המוקפת בזר עלי דפנה, ובחלקו העליון כתר שמאחוריו תושבת ייעודית לגביע השמש המתנשא מעל הכתר. על משטח הספסל מונחת שורת גביעי שמן המחוברים זה לזה בבסיסם, עם רגליים וידית המחוברים לבסיס הבזיכים, בראש כל גביע(מלבד השמש) ישנו מכסה נשלף עם חור לפתילה במרכזו. מעבר הכתר ישנה טבעת לתליה על קיר או לנשיאת החנוכיה. החנוכייה ניצבת על ארבע רגליים, אחת מהן מעוטרת. מעבר למשטח הספסל ישנם את החותמות. לא מצאנו דוגמה זו באתר בצלאל נרקיס. אסימטריה קלה וסימני זמן. רוחב מירבי: 21.5 בקירוב. גובה מירבי(כולל השמש): 22.5 ס”מ בקירוב.
