The Second Maccabiah – A Collection of Four Rare Items! 1. Paper pennant from the Second Maccabiah, reading: “Tel Aviv, 28 Adar II–4 Nisan 5695; Haifa, 5–7 Nisan, ” and “Patent and concession of the Maccabiah, A. Kaufman, Tel Aviv.” We were unable to locate another example in the National Library of Israel or on Bidspirit. 2. Invitation from the Maccabiah Organizing Committee to the Hapoel organization to participate in the Maccabiah competitions, with an invitation ticket for the main grandstand. We were unable to locate anything similar on Bidspirit or in the National Library of Israel (it may be there, but we did not find anything). 3. Admission ticket to the festive closing ceremony of the Second Maccabiah, spring of 1935. 4. Advertising postcard featuring Yosef Yekutieli, visionary of the “Maccabiah” and the man who brought the idea to fruition. The reverse bears a handwritten list of the participating teams. Size and condition vary. Fold marks. Item no. 2 has a tear with loss at one corner. Overall Condition: Good. The collection is for sale as is. The Maccabiah (“Jewish Olympics”) is a multi-sport competition held every few years in Israel with the participation of Jewish athletes from around the world. The Second Maccabiah took place in 1935, three years after the first—not the four-year interval customary for the Olympic Games. This was partly because the organizers wished to avoid giving the impression that the Maccabiah was merely imitating the Olympics, and partly to enable participating athletes who wished to remain in Palestine to do so, despite the restrictions imposed by the British White Paper. המכביה השניה, אוסף ארבעה פריטים נדירים! 1. דגלון נייר המכביה השניה , ”תל אביב כ'ח אדר ב' - ד' ניסן תרצ”ה, חיפה ה' - ז' ניסן”, ”פטנט וקונצסיה של המכביה ליט' א. קופמן תל אביב”. לא מצאנו בספרייה הלאומית ולא בבידספיריט 2. הזמנת הנהלת המכביה להתאגדות הפועל לבוא להשתתף בתחרויות המכביה, כרטיס הזמנה לבמה ראשית. לא מצאנו דבר דומה בבידספיריט ולא בספרייה הלאומית (ייתכן שיש שם אבל לא מצאנו). 3. כרטיס כניסה לנעילה החגיגית של המכביה השניה, אביב תרצ”ה 1935. 4. גלוית פרסומת יוסף יקותיאלי הוגה רעיון ”המכביה” ומגשימו, מצד שני של הגלויה רשימה בכתב יד של הקבוצות המשתתפות. גודל ומצב משתנה, ישנם סימני קיפול, ובפריט מס' 2 ישנו קרע עם חסר באחת הקצוות. באופן כללי מצב טוב. האוסף נמכר כמו שהוא. המכביה(”האולימפיאדה היהודית”) הינה תחרות ספורט רב-ענפית שמתקיימת מידי מספר שנים בארץ ישראל בהשתתפותם של ספורטאים יהודיים מרחבי העולם. המכביה השנייה התקיימה בשנת 1935, 3 שנים לאחר הראשונה ולא כעבור ארבע כנהוג באולימפיאדה, הסיבה הייתה גם מרצון המארגנים שלא להיראות כמחקים את האולימפיאדות, וגם בכדי לאפשר לספורטאים המעוניינים שיוכלו להישאר בישראל, למרות חוקי ”הספר הלבן” של הבריטים.
