American Family Scale Vintage 25-Pound Metal Kitchen Scale - This vintage mechanical kitchen scale was manufactured by American Family Scale. The item is constructed from painted sheet metal with a square top weighing platform. The circular dial face features printed text reading American FAMILY SCALE and WEIGHS 25 POUNDS BY OUNCES NOT LEGAL FOR TRADE. The center of the dial is decorated with lithographed images of various foods including a steak, cabbage, grapes, fish, a whole chicken, bananas, and a red apple. A red heart-shaped adhesive label is applied to the center of the top platform with white text reading TO REGULATE: TURN NUT UNDER TOP PLATFORM. The back and sides of the housing are made of stamped metal with a textured cream finish. The underside of the base features two rectangular slots and three circular punch-outs, revealing the interior spring mechanism. Weight: 1 pound 10 ounces (as measured on the dial in photo 3).
